What a lovely post. Parenting can be so busy. My babies are all grown and have babies of there own. Their lives are on the go. I remind them to take the time....sit with the littles. It goes by all to fast. We all need to take delight in our days. Thank you for posting.

Because my love language is productivity. I feel happiest and proudest of myself when I’ve done more than most people would have, but admittedly it is not my favorite trait of mine. And if the day has gone sideways, if everyone wanted to buckle themselves in the carseat with little slippery fingers and someone needed different shoes because the first ones felt all wrong and everything took longer than I thought it should and quite literally nothing got done, I’ll rush us through bedtime just so I can have one quiet minute to finish something on a list that nobody is grading.
And then at night I’ll lie there and beat myself up. I missed it. I could have laughed at the chubby fingers fumbling the buckle. I could have giggled that only the hot pink shoes would do."
This stopped my in my *tracks* just now, Ashley. This is exactly me. How serendipitous that I chose "delight" as my focus this year, meanwhile I fear that the busy of work and the chaos of summer have caused me to miss more delights than I care to admit.
This spoke to my heart. Thank you for sharing this. A beautiful reminder to soak it up while they’re home for summer and something to carry into the rest of the year.

You post so much about all the things you do that are fun but what about any times that aren't? I have plenty of those, it's all part of our lives too. I'm old, looking back, the hard times are needed too.
